SSS Monday Challenge - Let's Doodle

Well, I managed to get my fingers inky again this week for the SSS Monday Challenge - Let's Doodle. Unfortunately, the only time I had to finish it off was late this afternoon, so the photograph leaves a lot to be desired. I will re photograph it in better light tomorrow if time permits.

I loved the idea of the doodling, but all I could think about was these scribble flowers from two different companies. They look like doodling to me. My doodle contribution was scribbling around painted dots and flower centres, and paint doodling as I made up the four pieces of background after starting with plain Bazzill in various greens.

I love seeing the art in a frame. I have many frames with the glass taken out and replaced with matt board (offcuts purchased from my local framer for $8 / large bag). I place two or three pieces of sticky back velcro on the frame and the piece of art. I can change the art on the wall whenever a new piece is added to the collection.
For this challenge I wanted a piece with irregular edges, so I gessoed a piece of matt board, added a hint of colour, then started layering. I love the Tim Holtz film strip die and the french wine label sent to me several years ago.

SSS A Trio Of Something

For this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge the theme is a 'Trio of Something'.
My immediate thought was pears! I love the fact that one spoken word has three different meanings and spellings. So here we have three pears and three different words.

I stamped the pears to give an outline for adding DP pieces. I used soft gel medium to glue them down. When it was dry I stamped the pear again.

The pear stamp is Stampers Anonymous.
Liquitex Gesso
Distress inks and Golden fluid acrylics
Various background stamps and stencils.

SSS Monday Challenge 'Inside the Box"

A friend of a friend passed away leaving a lifetime collection of stamping goods. I had the opportunity to look.........boxes and boxes of used and unopened stamps and dies. I haven't stamped since June last year, but I was tempted. When I brought my purchased items home, I put them away in my craft room and stayed. I do miss it. The work I am doing at the moment takes most of my time.

I knew Simon Says Stamp always had a Monday challenge and I felt like a mixed media project. Something fun........like 'Crazy Cats'. The SSS Monday Challenge 'Inside the box'.
I mitred four pieces of wood, glued them together, then backed the box with heavy matting cardboard. The box was Gessoed all over.

When I stamped the cats, one looked like he was up to no good. The other cat looked like he was expecting trouble. I did have fun with this.......................

I used Tim Holtz Inks, Stamps and stickers, a patterned paper and various embellishments.

Happy Easter.

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of2016 - December

It's been a while since I had the chance to play with ink and paper. What better reason to get out my goodies than to make a tag for the last Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2016 ........on the last day of the year.

For the background, I wanted to use a lovely open weave hessian I had recently purchased. I did stencil it but it wasn't very obvious. I dabbed white acrylic paint across the tag and splattered it on the greens. I don't have the shadow press goodies (yet!) so used what I did have. I love the Holiday Greens dies, such beautiful shapes. Have purchased the mini version of this set too. I like how the tag turned out..........................

Thanks for dropping by and Happy New Year in advance :)

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Theme 'Powder Powder'

I joining  SSS Monday Challenge once again. This week's theme is 'Powder Powder' which is to use Embossing Powders or Pigment Powders on your project.

I used a mix of Brusho powders on the background, and the Tim Holtz Crosshatch Frameworks die cut. The Brusho powders are a joy to use, shake on and spray a little, or a lot. The serendipitous result is fabulous every time.
I did heat emboss white script on the background too.
The flowers are from an old Hero Arts stamp and die cut set.
I have used TH Sizzix tag and words dies, and Chit Chat sticker.
Also used Kaisercraft printed embellishments from a pack.
Orange dots are Enamel Accents, a wonderful product.
I do love challenges with wide parameters, just create!! Wonderful.

See you again soon. Happy creating!

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 - September 2nd Tag

I have another tag for Tim Holtz's 12 tags 2016 September

This is Tim's tag.

I made another tag to see if I could master the Alcohol Ink Resist Technique, and I did!!  One butterfly, some stars, hearts, text, and a sentiment. What I love about the technique is, if you don't quite get it right the first time, you can reink over the resist area and do the technique again. Botched Yuppos can be reinked and used again.. Amazing product and great technique.
I normally use blues or browns so red is a real change for me.

From Stamp/Stencil Sets. Stamps Postal, Perspective and Butterfly
The film strip is from the 'Lost and Found' stamp set. I stamped the image on a piece of acetate then cut around the image.
'Everyday' is from the Friendship words set.
The numbers are from 'Parker' dies. Not sure who made these.
Distress Inks, markers
Alcohol Ink Yuppo

See you next month :)

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Theme 'Inspired by Music'

Today's tag is for SSS Monday Challenge with a theme of 'Inspired by Music'.

When I first saw the theme for the challenge I thought, I have no idea what I could do for a music theme. Then, the first line of Adele's song 'Hello' came to mind, followed by the tag almost exactly as you see it now.
Hello, it's me...........................  A wee bird calling to his mate.
The bird and tag are done on watercolour paper and are coloured with distress inks. I stamped the bird a second time and just cut and coloured a second part to his beak so it looks like he was singing.
