12 tags of 2016 - August

Last night I made a tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2016 - August.

I have stuck very much to Tim's tag configuration. The Honeycomb die is the only one of this series I own and I love the layout. I have added a stamp in the background and stenciled glue for gold leaf.

I have used my own dyed wool and a bit of fabric for the texture. The brayering took a bit of mastering but when I did EXACTLY what the tutorial said, it worked. Haha. I just love the murky colours so much.

My new Mixed Media blog

Hi! Welcome to my second blog.

After much deliberation, I have decided to start a second blog, 'Puddling With Ink and Paper'.
I feel my venture into mediums other than cards should not be on 'Karen Creates Cards', my current blog. My mixed media looks so different from my card style, I just thought they looked very odd together. So, the new journey begins alongside the old one.
The 'Puddling' part of the name comes from my childhood nickname. When I was 3 years old, our next door neighbour named me Jemima Puddle Duck, after the Beatrix Potter character. It was the 'puddling' part that fitted my character, and still does. My mother has called me Puddle Duck, or just Duck, ever since and I am now 60!!

I started into Mixed Media back in 2004. This lasted for about three years until my Quilting business totally took over my life. Back then, I made ATC's, collages and postcards and swapped them with people from all around the world.  A lot of fun. I still have folders full of other people's art!!

Here you will find mixed media, and maybe a few shabby and vintage items. My creativity is mostly driven by online challenges simply because the talented designers are so inspiring, the deadlines help to reduce overthinking, and they keep me focused on one thing at a time.
